The first week-plus of the 2015 season is in the books, and while there were plenty of noteworthy performances by players across the area, here are the four nominees for this year's first edition of Home News Tribune Softball Player of the Week:

KATE BRANNIGAN
Colonia
Senior, shortstop

Brannigan is off to a torrid start at the plate, hitting .462 with four home runs, two doubles, 10 RBI, and 11 runs scored in seven games. Her first three games she was particularly hot, getting all four homers over those three games.

REBECCA COLANDREA
North Brunswick
Senior, third baseman

While North Brunswick has had its struggles on the field to start 2015, Colandrea has been the complete opposite. The senior is hitting .500 with five home runs, a double, 12 RBI, and six runs scored in 20 at-bats. Three of her homers came in one day in a doubleheader at the Colonia Believe Classic!

REBECCA DiSERIO
J.P. Stevens
Junior, catcher

The Hawks are off to a 5-1 start, winning a pair of games in Jersey before going 3-1 at Disney World over the past week. DiSerio is hitting .478 with eight extra base hits, nine RBI, and five runs scored while she's also been vital behind the plate working with freshman ace Ashley Lombardi. She's had multiple hits in four of six games.

CAROLINE RATTI
South Plainfield
Senior, third baseman

Ratti is a household name in the softball circles and she's certainly lived up to her high expectations so far -- the senior is hitting .600 with three home runs, three doubles, nine RBI, and 15 runs scored while she has also walked eight times as the Tigers are off to a 7-0 start.

Poll closes at 8 p.m. Thursday. Winner will be featured in the weekly softball notebook, online Friday afternoon and in print in Saturday's edition of the Home News Tribune.
