EarthShare New Jersey (ESNJ) is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a 20 for 20 campaign to raise at least $20,000 for the state's environment by the end of 2014.

The public and businesses are invited to donate $20 or more throughout the year to support an environmental project(s) they are passionate about. When making a donation, donors will select a project where they want a portion of that donation to be applied. Project choices are targeted toward: air — tree plantings and green energy; land — trail maintenance and rain gardens; water — beach and river cleanups; or wildlife — eagle camera and wildlife releases.

ESNJ member organizations are submitting projects to be considered for funding. Once the campaign ends and the public's areas of interest defined, projects will be announced and the donors will be invited to participate. The objective is to offer opportunities across the state so that all of the supporters can get involved.

"This campaign offers us an opportunity to reach a broader audience and obtain funding for a project we've had on our radar for a while," said Britta Wenzel, ESNJ board president. "We hope the public will support their passion whether it is air, water, land or wildlife related so that together we can make N.J. a cleaner, safer and healthier place to live work and play."

"The Campaign is a great way for individuals, families, schools, community groups and businesses to rally around N.J.'s environment and support a project that speaks to them personally," said Paula Aldarelli, ESNJ executive director. "The environment impacts everyone. This project enables them to not only financially help protect it, but also have a say and get involved in making a difference."

"For the past 20 years, EarthShare New Jersey has been committed to bringing business and the community together to protect our environment, preserve our natural resources and promote a sustainable economy," said Kathy Ellis, New Jersey Natural Gas chief operating officer. "New Jersey Natural Gas is proud to share that commitment and support the important work you do. Together, we are helping to create a healthier, greener tomorrow for future generations."
